Week of October 2, 2023

THANK YOU ALL FOR ANOTHER AMAZING WEEK AT LEE!  Thank you to Social Spurs for the gift cards for our custodians. Please make time to thank our custodians when you see them.  WHAT A HARD JOB!  You are doing a wonderful job preparing for your learner led conferences.  Check out this document with conference tips and tricks

DID YOU KNOW:
  • you must turn your Vivatek Boards and televisions off each afternoon?  Please remember to do this to save the life of these learning tools.
  • parents can start joining their learners for lunch on Fridays in October?  Please share this Friday Lunch sign up in your weekly newsletter for the remainder of the year.  October 13 is our first lunch date.
  • you are REQUIRED to call CPS (1-800-252-5400) if a learner shares information that is concerning?  Just a friendly reminder.
  • walkthroughs need to be signed?  Please go into Power School Perform to see if you have any that need your attention.  Thank you!
  • we have a new elementary paraprofessional starting on Monday in the office?  Her name is Margie Fralick and you are going to LOVE her energy.  Please stop by and say HI and introduce yourself.
  • we have a new security officer starting today?  His name is Stefan Adkins.

WORLD DAY OF BULLYING PREVENTION
October is National Bullying Prevention Month and the first Monday of every October is World Day of Bullying Prevention.  On this day students, schools, and communities all over the world go BLUE together against bullying.  We want you and your learners to join us to stop bullying and cyberbullying by wearing a blue shirt on Monday.

COLLEGE SHIRT DAY
Encourage learners to participate by wearing a college shirt on the first Wednesday of each month.

SPIRIT RALLY
We will host our Fall Spirit Rally on Wednesday from 2:00-3:00.  Please have learners packed up in your spaces before we call you down over the intercom.  This is a Day 7.

EARLY RELEASE ON THURSDAY
Thursday is an early release for students.  This means it is a Day 0 and all learners will go to the gym for Specials.  Please remind parents and follow the schedule below!  Your duty free lunch and remainder of your conference time are whatever time you need after 12:30, so you may need a snack when your children eat lunch (if you are like me and 12:30 is late for lunch).  Thursday afternoon you can prepare for conferences, host conferences, or use as work time for report cards or other work you need to get done.  Remember 1st 9 week's grades are due October 10.

Please send learners to pick up their lunches at these times.  There will be Mac and Cheese for lunch and two lines will be open.  On Early Release days, learners eat in your houses.
  • Blue- 10:00
  • Yellow- 10:15
  • Green- 10:30
  • Red- 10:45
  • Purple- 11:00

FALL CONFERENCES
Please make sure you are at work during normal contract hours on Friday (7:15-3:35). Document when you personally reach out to parents and they do not attend their Fall Conference.  Panorama is a great place to document.  If you don't document it, it didn't happen and our goal is to have 100% participation in learner-led conferences.  Remember...your space is a reflection of you and the learning that happens there.  While learning can get messy, Conference Day isn't the best day to showcase that!  Please make sure all spaces are on point.

FAIR DAY TICKETS
Learner fair day tickets are being placed in your mailboxes today.  Please make sure you send these home with each learner before next Friday.  A sub will walk around and have you sign off for your staff fair ticket, today.  If she missed you, please come by the office to get yours.

REMINDERS TO PARENTS
Please add these three reminders to your newsletters. This information comes directly from our Arrival and Dismissal communication from Back to School.
  • To ensure that all students are dismissed safely and correctly, we ask that same-day dismissal changes are made in emergencies only.
  • If you find that a same-day change is necessary, please email the child’s teacher and call our front office at 214-496-7900 by 1:30 pm to ensure that the change is communicated clearly.
  • Learners being picked up early for an appointment need to be signed out of the office before 2:45.
The front office will Teams your HOUSE that a learner is being picked up or if they get a call/email a learner is going home a different way.

ST ANN THANKGIVING BASKETS
St. Ann’s Catholic Parish is once again sponsoring Thanksgiving basket deliveries (or a pickup option at St Ann’s Church if you prefer). This program provides families in need with a complete Thanksgiving dinner for the entire family. The baskets will be delivered to your home the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it is critically important that an adult representing the family be at the home between the hours of Noon and 4PM on Sunday November 19th, 2023. The deadline to sign up for a basket is October 20th, 2023. Please completely fill out this form with all information requested. You may call your school’s nurse, Annah Rose, at arose@coppellisd.com if you have questions.

REMINDERS FROM COUNSELORS
It is imperative that you share important information with your school counselors as soon as you become aware.  This helps ensure that necessary support can be provided to learners in a timely manner.  If you have specific concerns or questions about learners, please call or Teams Jessica or Angela immediately.

PTO MEETING REMINDER
Our next virtual PTO meeting is coming up on October 10th.  Please plan to join us for important and exciting updated from your PTO Team and Principal.

SAVE THE DATE- TRUNK OR TREAT
Make sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 26.  Be on the lookout for more details coming soon!

RESPECT AGREEMENTS
Next week starts the 2nd 9 weeks.  Please build time in your lesson design, for the week of October 9, to include time to revisit and update your respect agreements with your classes.  New copies should be sent to Kat and Angel for our discipline binder.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Speaking of a new 9 weeks, remember to review digital citizenship with your class.  Revisiting digital citizenship conversations throughout the year helps to keep a healthy digital classroom environment.  Common Sense Media is a fabulous resource for supporting children as they navigate the waters of digital learning.  Here are class pledges your learners can sign and you can hang in your space (if you haven't already done so). K-2 and 3-5
