We hope you are looking forward to another week of Peanuts activities for December to Remember. We have SO MUCH FUN planning out ways to show you how much we love you! We try to be mindful not to take too much of your time, not to always have food, and to keep our crafts on the easy side. If you didn't make it to the lounge for any "projects" or want extras to do with your family at home, we always have plenty of left overs. Just let us know!! You blew us away with your ornaments and our tree looks AMAZING. Thanks for making this a December to Remember for your learners as well!
- there is a December Imaginarium out from Susan Maynor published? You can check it out here!
- all collabs should be used for flexible learning opportunities? Please look around at your collabs and take care of making sure these are not used as storage so that these spaces can be maximized for learning. If you need us to store furniture for your house, please contact Leigh Ann and she will adjust your house furniture inventory. You can also store extra house furniture in your storage rooms. Large rockers should be arriving after the break.
- there is a place to give CISD feedback for the calendar for the next two years? Exercise your voice, and go here and rank your favorites by Friday.
- the cafeteria needs your help to get a count of how many learners will be getting a sack lunch on our Early Release Fridays? Please fill out both tabs on the document emailed from Shanna.
- we will be hosting CPR Training for up to 24 people on January 12. Sign up here to join the training.
- May emailed out some fun holiday Math activities for your learners? Her S'more is here!
- the district will Go Red for staff wellness the month in February? Click here for a link to order your Go Red t-shirt (credit card only) and show your support during the Month of Mondays in February - American Heart Month - text DHCCOPPELL to 41444.

I love this time of the year. There is so much love and appreciation in the air. I look forward to getting myself reorganized and enjoy reflecting on my purpose. I encourage you to be creative and find 21 good things that happened in 2021 that you are grateful for. Here is my example from last year. I just used keynote and its shapes. I made arrows in markup.
Or you can be super creative and artistic like the girl (Helen Wang) who inspired me :)
Embed speaking opportunities
Talk is CRUCIAL for our ELs. We must provide (not require) opportunities for them to discuss with a group or partner so they can negotiate for meaning, hear another’s point of view, process thinking, dig deeper, learn new vocabulary, and practice language in a low stress setting. The best way to do this is to scaffold for success. Model what you want to see and hear EXPLICITLY, give them sentence frames and vocabulary and post the question that they will discuss so they can go back to it if they forget.
