Thank you for the #HourOfCode activities you planned and shared with your learners this week. I am blown away by the problem solving skills of our children. This is because of YOU! I hope you enjoyed our fabulous visit from Todd Whitthorne! I wonder if you have revisited the thought about being a participant not a spectator? Have you thought about what your "flow" is? What about practicing ALF and giving yourself "at least five" minutes each day? YOU ARE WORTH IT. Please have the BEST final week of school for 2021. Remember that you CHOSE this profession. It has been such a treat to celebrate each of you during December to Remember, and we hope that you know how very much you mean to the school community and me!
- we have FUN games planned for you to participate in tomorrow? Be READY! If you want to participate, will you please email CK a picture of your holiday tree (without you in it) before 8:30 tomorrow morning, please?
- Ruby will be offering some yoga in Blue 5 open space tomorrow from 3:00-3:30 if you want to participate?
- CISD expects you to set up your automatic replies before you leave for Winter Break? Please make time to go in and pre-set this up before leaving on Friday.
- Samira graduates from Stephen F Austin on Saturday? Please congratulate her- what an accomplishment!!
- Hannah graduates from North Texas on Sunday? Please congratulate her- what an accomplishment!!
Last week, you may have reflected on your year, you might have started to come up with your One Word for the year. It is so hard to keep up with resolutions and I have always felt your One Word keeps you grounded. Create a graphic and keep it visible in your space at home or at work. Here’s an example. I printed out the word on cardstock, used some stickers and carefully tore around it. I have glued it in my weekly planner and use it as my desktop background at home.
Have a wonderful break, disconnect from work and enjoy time with your family and friends.
Please use this link to book a time with me so we can collaborate.Offer wait time
So S.I.M.P.L.E. you don’t even have to plan for it. But you have to remember to do it. Offering wait time means that you ask a question. And then you WAIT before you call on anyone to answer. Wait. Wait. Wait. It can be awkward and someone will try to talk. Rather than calling on 1 person to answer…have them share their answers with a partner. This way EVERYONE answers rather than 1 single person. Win, WIN! Why wait? Well, many reasons…but to begin with some of our ELs are processing and translating English into their native language. Wait time gives them a chance to do the hard work and then build the courage to answer in English too!
