Week of June 1

We have made it to the LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!  YOU DID IT!!  As your principal, I could not be more proud of each and every one of you.  You have pushed yourselves beyond what you thought you could do and had an experience that many people never have the opportunity to do:  OPEN A SCHOOL.  I sense a sentimental post about this soon, so be prepared!!

Please enjoy the last bit of time with your sweet kiddos.  I apologize for the length of this post.  There is a great deal of information to get out to you.

Lastly, I hope you will get to meet my Daddy tomorrow.  I will be picking him up from the airport at 2:20.  If you are still at school when we get back, I would LOVE the chance to introduce you to him.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • that Crossroads Church (who partners with our PTO, mentors learners, sponsors field trips, provides school supplies, volunteer at school events, and MORE) will be partnering with Valley Ranch Baptist Church and Metrocrest to feed learners at Tom Landry Elementary this summer?  This neighboring elementary school has 90% of its learners on free and reduced lunch.  Crossroads is looking for volunteers on Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 am to put together bags of food to feed hungry children for the week.  If you are interested in being a part of this, for even one Saturday, please let Chantel know.
  • there is a link to Wednesday's staff meeting presentation with Technology check-in info?
  • you will get a copy of the End of Year Checklist in your mailbox by the end of the day, Friday?  Please remember to work on these task during conference time or before/after school to work towards your six hours for the weather day.  These should not be done during teaching time.

“Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

FIELD DAY
Thank you, ALL OF YOU, for helping and making our first (cold and wet) Field Day a fun event for the entire school.  Your positivity was contagious, so THANK YOU!!!  Congratulations to the tug of war winners.  We will have prizes for you at the final Spirit Assembly.  Also, please remember to upload your photos to the Google file Todd shared, by Monday, so we have time to produce a movie for the end of our Spirit Assembly.

FILL THE CAN FOR VAN

Please have your learners count and total your class funds by the end of the day Friday.  We would like to have a campus total for our PTO newsletter.   We cannot wait to see how much you collected!

INFORMATION LITERACY REFRESHER
All district employees must complete an update.  Please complete this by TODAY.  You are welcome to work together, as a house, during one of your conference times.  Thank you, Alli and Courtney, for keeping us compliant!

GRADE LEVEL SCHEDULE LAST WEEK
Please follow the schedules Todd emailed this week for the last week of school.  You will have conference time as grade levels this week, but no PLC time.  You will also have adjusted lunch times.  PLEASE communicate this information to your parents so that they are not alarmed if they bring their child lunch.  Also, Chantel will sit in on your Monday conference times to talk about class lists for next year.  Please bring your pink and blue cards and the family lists that Diana gave you at staff meeting.

ECONOMICS FAIR

Please bring your classes to the 3rd Grade Economics Fair on Tuesday starting at 1:30.  There will be items sold in the cafe, on the learning pavilion, and in the gym.  We will review expectations during morning broadcast, but all staff will be needed to help us with supervision of learners.

FIFTH GRADE GRADUATION
We will have dress rehearsal at 1:00 on Wednesday and the actual ceremony at 1:00 on Thursday.   This event is for fifth graders only (no siblings, please).  Please do not walk through the cafeteria or gym on these days and during these times.

SPIRIT ASSEMBLY
Please join us at 8:00 on Friday for our final Spirit Assembly.  Since we will be presenting awards to learners, please notify your parents if their child is on our Awards Spreadsheet.  They may want to come and watch them be honored.  Awards should be a surprise to learners, so I would request that parents not tell their child that they are receiving an award before the assembly.  Remember all awards must be posted to the Google Spreadsheet by the end of day Friday in order for us to create the certificates and get your signatures on them.

TISSUE ALERT
Please have learners packed up and lining the halls surrounding the media center by 12:45 on Friday.  For the last five minutes of the day we will play music and let fifth graders parade past their peers and  teachers.

ANOTHER SURVEY
Please forgive me, but I received this email, today, from Dr. Denison and she requests your help:  These are to measure engagement, teacher efficacy in utilizing flexible spacing, etc.  I apologize for the late notice.  We will leave these open until the end of school——will you PLEASE, as kindly and apologetically, ask your staff to take these surveys (each should only be 10 to 15 minutes) before they leave school this year?  Below are the links to the two surveys:.
