Week of August 25, 2025

WOW! What a full first week!  I could not be more proud of the stellar job you have all done. Your creativity, collaboration, and heart have truly shined. You’ve done an incredible job supporting your learners, their parents, and each other. Thank you for your flexibility with the start of school and the closing and opening of classes. The way you step up to care for one another and our learners is truly special, and I am so grateful for our team. I also appreciate the way you are already communicating weekly with families. I’m so impressed with how many of you are using Bulb, S’more, Twitter, and ParentSquare to keep our FamiLEEs engaged. YOU are what makes our school look so good in the community, and I thank you for that. We’ve loved having classes visit the office this week. It’s been such a fun way to see your learners in action and learn about your unique needs. Please know, we are here for YOU. Have a fabulous Friday and a restful weekend. You’ve earned it!

DID YOU KNOW:
  • Emma (our new 4th grade designer) will be visiting on Thursday around 8:45?  (no longer 10:00) We will try to say HI to as many of you as possible.
  • Friday is Day 1 and First Grade's Team Time day?  We will see you in the conference room.  Our LC, GT, LAS, and Holly will attend Team Time, when they can.  I can't wait to see your new norms and collective commitments developed.
  • if you are having Raptor issues you can let Angel know by filling out this google form:
  • you should familiarize yourself with this BOY GT Presentation for Designers? You will find information on universal GT screening years for 25-26, timelines, quarterly GT documentation, and transfer learners. If you have Questions? Teams or email Ayesha!
  • the treat cart will be coming by tomorrow?  What better way to celebrate making it to Friday than bringing by some of your favorite snacks.

MAP TESTING

Map testing will fall on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s for the next 3 weeks. Here is the schedule. Please make sure that you have set up your testing sessions by Friday (8/22).  Instructions to roster, setting up test sessions and assigning accommodations are found here.  Please lean into your team leads if you need help with rostering.  Keep in mind that the only accommodation that MAP provides is Text to Speech. If you have a learner who receives this accommodation, you must assign it to them.  Note that Reading accommodations look different from Math/Science.  Good luck to everyone and let’s work hard to keep an optimal testing environment for everyone.

STAFF MEETING WEDNESDAY

At Wednesday's staff meeting, we will cover Initial Skill Profiles and Targeted Skill Profiles for your SLO development.  Here is the presentation for those that want to look at it ahead of time.

LOCKDOWN DRILL

A friendly reminder that when we have lockdown drills that you:

  • review with your learners what it means to get to the nearest and safest location (that might not be with YOU- that's okay)
  • NEVER open the door, even if we ask you
  • pull the shades down quickly and get out of sight pronto
  • block the door with rolling cabinets if you can
  • stay silient

DREAMBOX UPDATE FROM SAMIRA

Dreambox Launchpad is a benchmark assessment that learners take that sets them up for future lessons in Dreambox. It is scheduled it to launch on September 2ndThe reasons are as follows:

  • The first 2 weeks should be about building relationships and getting to know the learners.
  • Educators should spend the first two weeks of school setting classroom expectations among other engaging activities.
  • In the curriculum documents, there are LOTS of hands on or paper/pencil activities that educators could use to build habits of a mathematician.
  • Learners should go over the “Responsible Use of Technology” before extensively using iPads.
  • Learners are still being moved, and rosters may not be 100% settled.
  • Some learners may not even have ipads assigned to them yet.
  • If a genuine assessment of math skills is needed, then we should consider using the Universal Math Screeners in a 1:1 or small group setting.

RESPECT AGREEMENTS

Please have your class Respect Agreements uploaded to the 1st quarter folder by Friday, August 22 by 3:00.  The Respect Agreement folder is also linked in Lee Links under the Behavior category.

GT AND ASSESSMENT UPDATES

Please take the time to read over the details regarding mClass. Here is a 3 minute overview on how to navigate mClass. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.🙂

  • Please make sure you go into mClass in advance and download the most current assessment pages as some have been updated. This means you may need to make some adjustments to the spiral bound mClass manual that Samira printed out last year.
  • Remember that mClass automatically scores and color codes learners’ results based on DIBELS benchmark norms.
  • If you need support in the administration of mClass please lean into teammates, team leads, Julie, Ayesha, or Holly.

Save the dates:

Here is a reminder of the BOY mClass measures:

TEACHER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF LEARNER PLANS

Just a quick reminder to all Designers to please complete the following two items for Angel by Monday, at 3:00:

  • DISTRICT GOOGLE FORM: Complete the Acknowledgement and Receipt of Learner Form. This is your official acknowledgement of receiving and understanding the forms.
  • RJL INTERVENTION SERVICES FOLDER: Open your Individual Student List in the RJL Intervention Services folder. At the bottom of the list: type your full name and the date to acknowledge receipt for the start of the year. For each learner: add your initials and date in the appropriate cell whenever new or updated paperwork is added during the year. Specialists will email you when updates are added in Panorama.

ATTENDANCE (Share in your newsletters)

Good school attendance is a significant predictor of academic growth! Research shows that students who are present and engaged learn more. Plus, our state allocates funds based on student success, making daily attendance a crucial factor. Let's ensure every day counts for our students' success!

BOY GOAL SETTING MEETINGS
Please sign up here for your BOY meeting- they start IN TWO WEEKS.  Paras and office staff, please sign up on the day indicated.  Other staff, please accommodate the Specials Team by avoiding times with a note attached. Bring your laptop to the large conference room for your meeting, and please make sure you add your goals to Bulb and Power School before we meet.  ALL campus employees must sign up for a goal setting meeting.  Forget how to do this?  Here are steps below:
  • Create a bulb page in your portfolio that documents your team/SLO goal and your campus goal. Here are templates. (thanks Samira)
  • Enter all the information in PowerSchool Perform in the section titled Goal 2 and this time save and submit. If you need the steps, here is the link to a presentation. Slides 8-18 walk you through the steps.

PARENT CONTACT
Did you get a chance to reach out and make your happy calls?  If you didn't, remember it is an expectation to pick up the phone and call EVERY family.  Special Education, LAS, and Specials Team, please make some calls, too.  Thank you for depositing in their emotional bank accounts!  You may be surprised how much sunshine it brings YOU when you make these calls.  Remember to document positive calls in Panorama.  If it isn't documented, it didn't happen.

CURRICULUM NIGHT- SAVE THE DATE (SHARE WITH PARENTS)
Thank you for working as a grade on your Curriculum Night presentations.  Please make sure you share your presentation with Admin before the event and have the FAQ questions and answers approved by Chantel BEFORE sending home to parents after the event.  It is SUPER IMPORTANT these answers are consistent.  Here is the revamped Curriculum Night Presentation for you to use.  Thank you Kristi, Cathy, Sam, and Gina for remaking our school presentation this summer!
