Week of April 18, 2022

WOW!  It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through the last nine weeks of the school year.  We have enjoyed our Summative meetings and having the chance to have dedicated time with each and every staff member.  We should be able to have ALL of these done by the end of the week. We enjoy the opportunity to brag on you and celebrate the growth we have seen in ALL.  I'm feeling VERY #luckyatlee for each of you.  Enjoy the long weekend!

DID YOU KNOW:
  • that Corrine is going to be our 2nd Language Acquisition Specialist (LAS) next year? While we are sad to lose Claudia, what a treat to have a designer from within to support our emergent bilinguals.  Please help me in congratulating her on her new role next year.
  • Cynthia will be wrapping up her subbing at Lee for Melissa as Melissa will return on Tuesday?  Thank you to Cynthia, and welcome back Melissa.
  • We have recommended a PE Designer, two classroom teachers, and a SPED Instructional Aide to HR this week?  We couldn't do this without the help of our Interview Team and will let you know when they are Board approved!  We are still looking for a few more candidates.  For those unaware, our sweet Shanna will finish this year when she returns from Egypt, but she will move on to new adventures next year.  If you know a smart, joyful, loving, and fun person like Shanna that would make a great Principal's secretary, please have them apply.  We will start interviews soon.

FAMILEE MOVIE NIGHT
We hope you can join us at Friday Night's FamiLEE Movie Night.  It is a wonderful way for our staff to connect with the community.  We will have popcorn and shaved ice for purchase.  Feel free to bring blankets or chairs to enjoy your spot on the lawn.  For entry, we will accept a box of cereal and donate all boxes to Metrocrest Services.   Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the event.

REMINDER:  SPRING CONFERENCES
You should be planning for your Spring Conferences and advertising in your weekly newsletters starting now.  Please give due diligence to make contact with all parents to review their learner's data and goal setting.  When at all possible, the learners should be involved in these conferences.  Keep documentation of parents who do/do not attend conferences.  During your time together, I would encourage you to listen for in case a parent would like to make a change in house for the 2022-2023 school year, wants specialized testing, or is considering retention.  Please write these requests down and EMAIL them to Chantel and Leigh Ann.  This makes sure that we have a second layer of accountability as we transition to the next school year.  In addition, remind parents that we DO NOT take requests for house colors or designers and we do our best to have siblings in the same house, but cannot always guarantee it.  We do our very BEST to keep as many learners in their house when we loop up, but we sometimes have to move learners when balancing our building each year.  Parents WILL be notified by campus administration before Meet the Designer Night, if their learner is being moved. Please ask me if you have any questions!!!

DLC UPDATE
We've all been there  -  that awful feeling when you've been working hard on your digital portfolio but then suddenly have a glitch and lose saved work. Never fear, your DLC's are here! We are so excited that bulb has added a Page History option that functions just like Revision History in Google Docs! Using this feature, you can scroll through multiple versions of a page and restore the one you choose! Command + Z can also be a great keyboard shortcut to undo any of your small "oops" moments when on your Mac too. Need ideas for your own goal reflections or looking to help learners build their portfolios?  Let us know.  We are happy to help!

COACH'S CORNER

Found this AMAZING resource in Books. The book is designed by various Apple Distinguished Educators from around the world and has examples. It applies the “Everyone Can Create” theme to Earth Day activities. If you would like me to come co-teach one or more activities with you, please use the spreadsheet to sign up.

Please use this link to book a time with me so we can collaborate.

ESL STRATEGY OF THE WEEK

For a successful shared reading experience, consider the following strategies:
