Week of May 19, 2025

As the school year comes to an end, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all an amazing summer break ahead. You've worked tirelessly throughout the year to shape the minds of our future, and now it's time for a well-deserved break. Whether you plan to relax at the beach, explore new places, or spend quality time with loved ones, I hope your summer is filled with joy, laughter, and good memories. I'm on contract through June 11 and will be back on July 7, if you need anything. I will miss you, but I am excited to see what #rjlyear12 brings us. Let's Go!

IPAD COLLECTION
Please collect iPads from all K-4 learners.  We also need to collect the charging cord and brick. Please put all three in on ziploc bag and store in the tote provided by CISD.  (Our front office counted out bags so you do not need to used yours.)  Write the child's name and ID # with a sharpie on the bag.  Place your class iPads in the totes for iPad collection.  The plan is for you to hold on and deliver totes to the library on Friday.  Margie is emailing this out:
  1. Please mark the name and student IDs on each bag with black Sharpie.
  2. Collect iPads, chargers, and bricks for each child and put them into their respective bags.
  3. Initial under the column "Comments" on the class list when learners turn in all items.  If they are missing something mark it in the "Comments" section as well (see example attached).
  4. If a learner is taking Summer School, please put "SS" in the "Comments" and allow them to keep their iPad, charger, and brick.

Please share with parents:

K-4 iPad Collection:
  • iPads that have been assigned to our learners will stay on campus starting this summer.
  • Each iPad is enrolled directly to a learner. Additionally, we will label each iPad to ensure each child will have access to the same iPad when they return in August.
  • Parents, please send the iPad, charging cable and brick to the classroom teacher by as soon as possible (Tuesday, at the latest).
  • We will place and store their cords, brick, and iPads together in a labeled bag.
  • Once the bags and devices are collected, we will store the iPads remaining at Lee so they can be checked and updated over the summer.
  • If your child is going to another school in the fall, we will collect and store those devices and get them ready to be delivered to their new campus.
  • If your child is going to summer school, we will send their device with them.

We will still have: Learning A-Z, Handwriting without Tears, No Red Ink, Amplify, Databases, BrainPop, PebbleGo, PearDeck, Discovery Ed, Generation Genius, Gizmos/Reflex/Frax, Mystery Science, NewsOMatic, Dreambox, Reflex StemScopes Math, Exemplars Math, Imagine Learning.

FIELD DAY
It's here!  Have a blast WITH your kids and enjoy the day.  This is one of those events that is a memory maker and they love when their teachers interact with them!!!  Please follow the schedule provided by the coaches and ask if you see anyone without a volunteer badge.  Lunch sandwiches will be provided by PTO.

Designers, you can pick up your class yearbooks from the Art room on Friday.  These can go home end of day Friday.  We have ONLY SIX extras to sell and we will only sell those ONLY to fifth graders on a first come first served basis.

LIBRARY BOOK REMINDER
If your learners still have library books, they missed the deadline.   Please help remind learners to bring their books back.

KINDERGARTEN ZOO
We look forward to seeing all the learning from our Kindergarteners on display on Monday.  Please follow the schedule below to help with crowd control.  Enter on the ramp by the pond and exit near the lost and found area.

ZOO CREW VISITS LEE ON WEDNESDAY
Zoo Crew will be at Lee on May 14.  This mobile truck will have stuffed animals that will be made with the learners during the school day.  Learners will bring them home in a string backpack with a birth certificate.  Here is the link to order one of the two packages online.   Money earned will be used to help Kindergarten adopt animals at the Dallas Zoo.  We have asked them to bring extra highland cows, just in case.

RJL SENIOR RECEPTION- SAVE THE DATE
Please help us spread the word as we welcome back former Spurs to Lee Elementary.  We can't wait to see our learners from #rjlyear4.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

FARMER MARKET ON FRIDAY
Want some pesticide free food from our school garden for a farm to table experience?  Our learners will harvest and sell their garden items during lunch on Friday.  All funds raised go back to providing for our school garden.

EOY REPORT CARDS
Report card grades are due May 19.  Learners that have withdrawn within the first two weeks of the 4th quarter will have their 3rd quarter report card used as the final report card of the 24-25 school year.

Guidelines:
  • Withdrawn and did not return to Lee - (March 24-April 4) - 3rd quarter report card will count as the final report card
  • Enrolled by May 1st - should receive report card
  • Enrolled after May 1st - discuss with Kat or Angel
If you cannot see a learner on your roster then use the following directions below:

Anyone who leaves can now be made visible on the grade entry screens. In Teacher Access Center, on any “report card” screen, you can click on the Show/Hide Withdrawn Students icon in the upper right:

The middle selection will display “Sort within active students” when you hover over it. Select that icon and anyone who has withdrawn will show up in red, italicized print on the student list. At that point, grades/comments can be entered. This should also work for standards-based Social Skills & Study Habits data entry as well as data entry for PK report cards.

Kathy Creek is monitoring learners that are returning from an extended leave, and she is reactivating their report card, but if you have any trouble then please email Kat so she can do some behind the scenes magic.

TO DO LIST IN ONE PLACE
  • EOY Checklist- we are trusting you to execute what is expected to be completed on the lists.  Please read them carefully and complete ALL tasks before school, after school, during your conference time, or during Team Time.  Please do not work on this while you should be teaching.  Learning should happen until the last day at Lee.
  • Shared Curriculum List.  Please save and mark up for us.  We will have you share your house inventory on the last 1/2 day of school.  Please make this a team effort and not left to your Leadership member.
  • Furniture Inventory- remember extra furniture in your house may have taken a field trip to a neighboring house.  Before you take extras to the flex space, check with your neighbors.  It is wise to complete the furniture inventory on the LAST day of school.
  • T-shirt update.  We know that shirt sizes change during the year.  So that we get you a shirt that fits the way you want it to, please fill out this form.
