Thank you to everyone who helped with STAAR testing. We're DONE! Thanks to those joining us tonight for Kindergarten Round Up. It is always so fun to feel the energy and see the excitement our newest Spurs have. Enjoy an incredible weekend and pull out your stretchy pants for Staff Appreciation Week. It is time to celebrate all of you!! We LOVE our TEAM beyond words and so does our PTO! They have awesome plans to spoil you all week long!
DID YOU KNOW:
- we are having some issues with trash around our school? Please encourage learners to pick up after themselves and leave our school better than they found it. I see problems in our restrooms and the playgrounds.
- we are needing a friendly reminder about being on phones during the school day? As I move through the building I see phones in staff hands. I know some of you are taking photos, checking/responding on teams, and posting to your school social media. Those tasks are fine with me, but please be mindful to limit your personal business on your phones when you have learners in your classroom.
- we are needing a reminder about end of year absences? Personal days need two weeks of notice and if you are using a sick day you need to make contact with CK to inform her. As stated in our handbook: When you must be absent, due to illness or emergencies, please call/text Chantel as early as possible. Her phone number is 214-725-----. After making contact, use Red Rover to request a substitute. Red Rover directions are here.

WE NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER FOR FIELD DAY
The coaches have asked for our help this year for field day, and we still need 15 or more volunteers for all the available time blocks! Please sign up to contribute through volunteering or donating! Whether you can spare some time to supervise the little ones at the event on May 8th or to provide snacks to keep our staff energized, every bit counts! NOTE: This signup will go out to other volunteer organizations soon, so if you plan to volunteer, grab your slot asap!FIELD DAY
Field Day is here and thank you to coaches and PTO for getting it all organized. Here are some reminders:
- Please be sure to show the Field Day presentation to your house before Field Day to ensure everyone is familiar with what to expect.
- Please fill up the front parking lot before parking in the rear parking lot on Friday. We need spots in the back for our volunteers who will check in with PTO by the custodial door.
- Please permit learners to eat breakfast in your learning spaces because the cafeteria will be set up and used for one of the zones.
- No chalk on walls or areas that rain will not wash away.
- Officer Thames will watch the PE door closer to the ecoPond for learners who need to go in to use the restroom. Staff will have to badge in learners on the cafeteria side.
- Please make sure whatever movie you show your class/house is rated "G" and NOT DISNEY.
- Please make sure that ANY adult you see outside has a Raptor sticker on them. If you see someone without a sticker, please ASK.
- Staff may wear appropriate shorts and hats. Don't forget to wear/have your "schedule" to keep everyone on track.
- All kids should bring a change of clothes.
- PTO will provide snacks and Jimmy Johns, for lunch, in the teacher's lounge.

COACHES CORNER
You may start seeing me pop into classrooms over the next few weeks with my camera — I'm capturing photos and videos of iPads in action as part of our Apple Distinguished School renewal. No need to do anything differently, just keep being awesome!
If you have something coming up where students will be using their iPads, I'd love to know about it so I can swing by and get some footage. Here's the kind of moments I'm looking for:

If you have something coming up where students will be using their iPads, I'd love to know about it so I can swing by and get some footage. Here's the kind of moments I'm looking for:
- Students working on iPads during a real lesson (not posed — just working!)
- A student-created project on screen — Keynote, Pages, GarageBand, iMovie, digital art- Apple apps preferred
- Teachers using an iPad as an active teaching tool during instruction (Apple Classroom, using the iPad to demonstrate, etc)
- Students collaborating together on a shared task (great opportunity for a fun Swift coding lesson - paired programming would be great for this. Let me know if you're interested and I can come do a lesson!)
- Students making choices about their own learning — picking a tool, directing their own project
- Any creative or joyful moment where technology is bringing students to life.
- Accessibility tools or supports being used
